Flying Knights

This book Lentävät Ritarit, which translates into Flying Knights, follows the pattern established in the previous volumes dealing with the Aviation Regiments (LeR 1, LeR 2, LeR 3 and LeR 4). All nineteen airmen, who won the Mannerheim Cross, have a compact and detailed biography based on archive research.
The Mannerheim Cross was the highest military award in Finland, which was not dependent of the rank or post of the nominee. This decoration was given to 191 soldiers (of a half million man army) and the airmen represented 10 per cent of the total. The size of the book in B5 (174x250 mm) with laminated card covers, 144 pages printed on glossy art paper. The main text is in Finnish with an English summary of every airman. Photo captions are fully bi-lingual for 250 top quality pictures of both men and machines, supplemented by 44 colour profiles of the aircraft flown by these men. All are described as an extract of their service record, number of missions, quote of the nomination and full aerial victory list for the fighter pilots are included.
